After lots of planning and preparing, I must say prom was a successful! On Friday, I attend my high school, Rosati-Kain, prom. Then on Saturday, I attended Chaminade's Prom with a friend of mine. Friday, seniors were dismissed from classes at noon. That left me with about three and a half hours to get my hair and make-up done, my over night bag and clutch packed before I had to leave in order to be at my friends house in time for pictures. I wore a navy, peplum bcbg dress that had a bow in the back and I had my hair braid with pearls and curled, I then accessorized with more pearls. We took pictures at my friends house, my high school, the Cathedral Basilica, and Forest Park. After pictures we headed to Rose on Hill where are prom was being held. We were served a not so tasty dinner, had poor music, and were in a small space but that did not hold us back from having fun. After prom, we were picked up by the huge party bus. Our first stop was my friends house were we changed, had some snacks, then got back on. We had a blast dancing and singing on the bus and before we knew it out time was up and we got dropped off. We were all sore and tired from all the dancing. The next morning, we went to breakfast as a group then went home so we could "recover" in our own beds. Let's just say I could have slept all day, but sadly I had to start getting ready so I could do it all again. My hair had stayed curled from all the hair spray from the night before so I just combed it out so the curls were loose and wavy. I parted my hair and twisted the sides back then concealed the pony tail that held it all together with hair. I wore a simple and sleek black backless dress, but wore bold gold accessories. I finished getting ready with three of my girl friends before we meet the rest of the group at Sunset Country Club. We took pictures and ate a great meal then we loaded up a (smaller) party bus. We arrived at the Science Center where the prom was being held around nine o'clock. Upon our arrival we were given tons of glow in the dark accessories from necklaces to glasses to balls. There was a light show and we danced the night away. After prom was over we headed back to my dates house for an eventful and fun after party. My friends and I took a cab home and cherished our three hours asleep before we had to work a brunch. I must say, I had a fun, busy, and very memorable weekend.

15 Prom Essentials
Sure we all remember the dress, perfect heels, and jewelry. But what about everything else! Prom can be an exciting time, but no night is going to go perfect. Making sure you've packed a few beauty essentials into your prom bag can help you keep your cool and stress-free. Here are fifteen recommended products to take with you on your big night:
Face Products to Put in Your Purse for Prom Night
1. Mirror. It's always a good idea to have a discrete pocket mirror on hand in case you need to check on something instead of going into the bathroom.
2. Blotting Sheets. Used to minimize the visibility of oil and to control shine, blotting wipes or pads can come in handy.
3. Compact. Having your favorite powder (I like translucent) with you at prom can help your skin stay beautiful and oil free all night long.
4. Tissue. Hopefully you won't have to pull out your tissue in front of your date and actually blow your nose, but it's better to have it just in case. Tissues also can help fix make-up and clean up small spills.
Hair Products to Have on Hand
5. Bobby Pins. Depending on your hair style and length, you may also want to throw a few clips and hair ties into your prom purse as well.
6. Mini Hairspray. To play it safe, go ahead and pack a miniature bottle of your hairspray to use in the event that your hair needs some touching up over the course of the evening.
Mouth Aids for the Evening
7. Mints or Gum. Having mints on hand can give you a quick way to freshen up and share with others.
8. Floss. Hopefully you won't need it, but what is worse then spending an entire evening with food stuck in your teeth?
9. Chap stick. "Whereeee's the chap stick?" You will be every one's best friend if you are the one who remembers to bring chap stick, so hopefully you won't mind sharing.
10. Lipstick or gloss. Pack your chosen lipstick or lip gloss to touch up.
Body Products to Carry with You
11. Deodorant. Particularly if an outfit change will occur between prom and some after-after-prom activity, you may want to bring a travel size deodorant or antiperspirant with you to reapply.
12. Perfume. Packing a small bottle of perfume in your bag can help ease any odor-worries.
13. Lotion. Keeping a skin-hydrating agent around can also help you feel and look your best. Lotion is especially important if you have a spray tan. I like to pack shimmery lotion for prom.
14. Tampon or Pad. Even if you're not expecting to be on your period, it's always good to have some protection on hand in case the need arises for yourself or for your girlfriends.
15. Medicine. I like to keep a small pill container with Advil and allergy medicine to have just in case.
Lastly, throw in some keys, your cell phone (that is fully charged), plastic bandages, safety pins and some cash & a credit card--and you're ready to go. Have fun! Hopefully this helps you on your prom night like it did on mine!

Prom Prep
Prom is right around the corner and although it may seem like you are ready to go- you have your dress and shoes after all right? If only it was as simple as that. There are party buses or transportation to be booked, after parties to be planned, hair and nails appointments to be set, and so much more.
Two months before prom: Book hair and makeup appointments
Because everybody is trying to get them done, make sure you schedule two months in advance. If you plan on doing your hair and makeup yourself, then that's also the time to start trying different looks at home. YouTube is such a great place to go when you just want to learn how to do certain things, pinterest is also helpful.
One month before prom: Book Transportation and Party House
Weather you are renting a party bus, limo, driving yourself or having your parents drive you it is important to get it booked and have a plan for transportation because no one wants to be left ride-less after prom. I don't know about you, but I do not plan on going to home and to bed right after prom. Start looking around and book a house that can accommodate your group, cabins or lake houses are always fun. If you plan on going to a friends house after for a party make sure the parents are okay with it all too.
Two weeks before prom: Teeth whitening
Start whitening your teeth using a product like Crest White Strips or a Hydrogen Peroxide/ Baking Soda paste.
Just over a week before prom: Get a facial and a Hair Treatment
"I find that after people get facials, they can breakout a little that day or the next day because their skin is getting rid of the impurities. So you want to give yourself time." You want your hair to be healthy for prom so get a hot oil or deep conditioning treatment.
One week before prom: Brow maintenance
Do not wait till the day before (or even few days before) prom you'll end up getting marks, and makeup doesn't stick on the skin there. I'd say go a week out. However, if you go two weeks, you'll start to see regrowth.
Two days before prom: Sunless tanning
Do a trial run about two or three weeks before. You don't want to get your actual spray tan a week before the prom because it'll fade, and usually by day four it starts getting a little splotchy. Do it a day or two before, so it's really fresh and even. Make sure you shave and exfoliate before and wait to shower until the day after. As soon as your shower load up on lotion because your tan stays longer when its moisturized.
The day before prom: Get a manicure and prep
Make sure you get your nails done after you get a spray tan because the tanner can have an effect on your nails. If you can't find a color that matches your dress perfectly, gold/silver always look nice or a classic French manicure. Don't forget about your toes too! If you don't want to spend the money or if you get squeezed out of an appointment, the Sally Hansen nail stickers are always easy and look nice.
It is important to wash your hair the night before your hair appointment because day old hair is easier for your hair dresser to work with. Pack bags for after party and a clutch so you do not have to worry about it later. Check out my clutch must haves*
The day of prom: Time to get ready
Shower and moisturize. Wear loose comfortable clothes and a shirt/jacket that can be easily taken off without messing up your hair. Arrive to hair and make-up early and bring ideas for the make up artist and stylist. When you are getting ready for your special night it is important to remember to stay hydrated and eat, nothing is worse then a hungry crabby stressed out girl. Make sure you allow plenty of time to arrive to pictures on time!
Last, remember to take tons of pictures and have the time of your life! After all you will always treasure this memorable night!
I hope this helps for all those looking ahead to prepare for prom! Keeping a scheduled allowed me to have a smooth & (less) stressed prom night!

Monogrammed Monday
Happy Monogrammed Monday! After a busy weekend filled with fun wedding events, I am not ready to go back to school. However, Monogrammed Monday once again gives me an excuse to talk about monograms. Recently, I purchased some fun new accessories from Etsy and thought I should share them.
First, I purchased vinyl stickers from monogramsandmore2. The stickers are one inch, three inch, and five inches. Vinyl stickers are perfect for any surfaces and add a perfect slash of fun and color. Monogram stickers are also a great way to personalize you things such as laptops and water bottles.
Second, I purchased monogrammed hair bows from Yzzybeez. Although I hardly ever wear hair bows, I still think they are cute and fun. I plan on using these bows as accessories on bags. Hair bows are really easy to attach to any kind of bag by clipping them to the handle. Bows add girly-ness, fun, and personalization.
I like purchasing items from Etsy because many of the shops are small businesses and they usually have exactly what I am looking for and the prices are reasonable. I hope everyone else is having a great Monday and if not find some monograms to brighten your day! What are your favorite monogrammed accessories?

Memories of March
Where has time gone? March flew by! I had a month filled with events from parades and road trips, to brunches and my beautiful cousin's wedding- it felt as though every weekend I had was packed! I made many memories this March that I will cherish including events such as Mardi Gras, Senior Mother Daughter Brunch, my last R-K pep rally, St. Patrick's Day, Spring Break trip to Gulf Shores, Mr. & Mrs. Jackstadt Wedding, and going out with my friends. My favorite thing about March was that after a long, harsh winter- spring was finally here! Overall March was a great month filled with family, friends, laughs, and tears of joy.

I still can't believe March is over, it truly went by in a blink of an eye! With March now complete and as we move into April, the first thing I realize is my friends and I have less than a month and a half left! I know we will make the most of our time left as Rosati-Kain Kougars and cherish every minute! I am looking forward to a busy April as well and especially cannot wait for Prom season and Easter! I hope every one else had a great March as well!
